Peach Melba Overnight Oats are a great retro breakfast. This classic combination of peach and raspberries are guaranteed to make your morning pop. But the great thing is that with only 6 ingredients they are also a super easy breakfast to make and have on the go.
I don’t know about you but I am a child of the 80s, and peach melba is one of the flavors that reminds me of my childhood. While I am used to traditionally having this as part of a dessert, it also makes a great breakfast flavor that is packed with vitamin C.
Peach Melba actually dates back to the 1890s and was named after the famous singer Neliie Melba, who love this combination. It was originally made by renowned French chef Auguste Escoffier who served lighly blanched peach halves with vanilla ice cream and raspberry puree.
The flavor combo then saw a HUGE resurgence in the 1980s and fast became a dinner party staple.
Although now seen as a bit retro, I am sure you are just going to love this peach melba breakfast idea.
What are overnight oats?
Overnight oats are basically just your regular breakfast oats that have been soaked overnight in a liquid of your choosing. In this version I just used regular dairy milk however this can be easily substituted in for almond milk, oat milk or even soy milk to make a vegan friendly version.
By leaving the oats to soak overnight in the liquid of your choosing they soften while , they become soft while still keeping all of their nutritional value while the liquid becomes thicker and creamier in the process.
Why you will love these peach melba overnight oats

There are so many reasons to love these peach melba overnight oats. We love because:
- They are no cook! I don’t know about you but my family is always on the go. Sometimes it is nice to have a recipe that you can just mix together the night before and serve the following day without worrying about cooking or washing up.
- There is minimum prep – literally mash the banana, stir the ingredients and go! I like to present the top of my overnight oats more artfully, but if you are super rushed then missing this step won’t affect the overall taste.
- Easy to adjust – I’m usually making my overnight oats for 2 or 4 people. This recipe serves two but it is so east to double or half these ingredients to make the required amount.
- They are a great meal prep breakfast. Sometimes I like to get ahead on a Sunday night and line up my meals for a busy week. As overnight oats keeps in the fridge for 3 days, I like to make my breakfasts for Monday through Wednesday on a Sunday night!
- Easy to customise – it is really easy to add or take away flavors in any overnight oats so if you have a fussy eater in your house it is easy to amend this recipe to suit their taste!

Substitutions & Variations
Want to try something different? Here are some options.
- Yogurt – you can use flavored yogurt such as vanilla yogurt or even a strawberry yogurt instead of plain Greek yogurt like we have. However, be warned flavored yogurts are sweeter so you may need to reduce sweetness in the compote from this recipe.
- Vegan – to make these vegan overnight oats substitute the dairy yogurt and milk with vegan alternatives such as almond, coconut or oat to make a delicious vegan alternative.
- Stewed Raspberries – I love fresh raspberries but their shelf life is notoriously short. So instead why not add some stewed raspberries into the oat mixture and stir before topping with peaches and leaving in fridge overnight. Just be sure to fully cool any stewed fruit or raspberry compote fully before adding into the mixture.
- Chia Seeds – and if you like a thicker texture to your oats and want to add additional dietary fiber add a teaspoon of chia seeds into the oat mixture and stir well.
Storage
Store in fridge and consume within 3 days for optimal texture.
If you leave the oats for the full 3 days you may find you need to add an extra tablespoon of yogurt into the mixture to get the right consistency.
These ingredients don’t stand up well to freezing.
Tips for Making this Recipe

We recommend leaving these oats overnight for best results, it is in the name after all. While on some of our other overnight oats recipes you can leave the oats for as little as two hours.
If you decide on using raspberry compote instead of fresh in this recipe, make sure the mixture has fully cooled before being adding into the oats.
Best Jars for Overnight Oats
8 oz glass mason jars are recommended for this recipe. However, any glass container will work.
Alternatively you could also use Tupperware or any plastic container to store in the fridge and portion out in the morning however I never think this looks quite as nice as serving in the glass jar.
